Le Katharinenbuch (1577) est un programme pédagogique. L’auteur de ces ordonnances scolaires est l’humaniste Pierre Schneuwly (vers 1540-1597), chanoine de Saint-Nicolas puis prévôt du Chapitre, qui a travaillé à améliorer l’instruction. Ce dernier a encouragé la fondation du collège Saint-Michel et a contribué à l’institution de la Chambre des Scholarques qui est instituée en 1577.
